This workshop will introduce participants to the partners’ ongoing work on developing guidance and solutions on urban heat, and train them to assess heat risk and implement mitigation solutions in their cities. It will also examine how nature-based solutions are vital for addressing climate change and inequality, enabling officials to interact with experts on integrating NbS into urban governance for climate adaptation and sustainable, resilient growth.

Networking Session

NOVEMBER 7 | 13:00 | MULTIPURPOSE ROOM 19

Urban Planning Systems are crucial related to implementing resilience and integrated development of urban territories, especially related to adaptation to climate crisis, achieving carbon-neutral territories. Urban Planning Systems are the reference framework for a balanced urban development and are key assets towards better resilience, including Housing development. The networking event will elaborate on the urgent need to transform planning systems and urban policies into resilient and coherent legal planning frameworks, discuss the questions of integrated guidelines, including the essential question of Housing. The presentations and roundtable discussion, together with interaction with attendance, will discuss the challenge of achieving a real coordination across sectoral policies, given the fact of the complex array of institutions involved in national policies. The Networking event will share actual experiences of innovative urban planning policies in Middle-East as well as Africa, Europe, Latin America and South Korea, and elaborate on practical solutions to achieve resilience and carbon-neutral cities.

The WUF12 Urban Expo is a place to explore practical solutions to tackle urban challenges related to housing, transport, energy, waste, and climate change. The Nature-Based Playground Pavilion will highlight how bio-based materials can revolutionize affordable housing and promote circular economies. This interactive space showcases the use of mycelium and other natural materials in construction, featuring hands-on exhibits, case studies, and student-led projects that explore regenerative solutions for urban environments.
