Down to Earth's second Study Visit to Western Greece

Earlier this month, the ISOCARP Institute took part in the second study visit of the project Down to Earth in Western Greece. During the three day trip, project partners and regional stakeholders got together to review the first year of Down to Earth and our efforts investigating the topic of Environmental Risks in Rural Areas. We participated in the project’s first Thematic Conference in Kalavryta, where local and regional administrators discussed planning initiatives and incentives with the Consortium. The visit also took us to the municipalities of Thermo and Xiromero, where we were addressed by the Mayors and shown a range of local initiatives and interventions that aim to foster economic development and environmental conservation in the region.

During the final day in Patras, Down to Earth partners and present stakeholders engaged in Management Meetings and delved into identified best practices and survey results from the project’s first year. Discussions centered on addressing barriers for young farmers and planning the next steps for sustainable solutions in rural areas.
